Using Art for Observation & Discovery
Hoonah City Schools, Hoonah, AK
24
At Hoonah City Schools, I currently provide Art/Science Integration grades K through high school. An Alaska certified teacher with over 25 years of classroom experience, I teach observational art skills for documenting what my students learn about Tongass National Forest ecology. My classroom sessions include Tlingit cultural themes, self-focusing techniques, and STEM skills as appropriate. From 2018 to 2021, I also taught a middle and high school Sketch Explorations Intensive Elective. In all my instruction, my goal is always "process over product" and "experience instead of perfection."
